I. What are industrial endotoxins?
Industrial endotoxins are lipopolysaccharides (LPS) released by Gram-negative bacteria after death or lysis. They are widely present in the natural environment and industrial production environments. They are extremely thermally and chemically stable, making them difficult to eliminate with conventional sterilization methods completely. Even low doses can cause serious adverse reactions in humans, such as fever, low blood pressure, and shock. They are a "hidden killer" of product safety in industries such as pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
